Yarn Along – Householder’s Guide to the Universe

shawlyarnalong

Joining Ginny today for Yarn Along.  Books and knitting – so good.  I’m reading Steiner’s Discussions with Teachers, as prep to begin teaching Ella her letters, and really enjoying hearing his actual directions to teachers, instead of just hearing other people’s interpretations of his words.  Also, I’m reading, and loving the Householder’s Guide to the Universe. It really rocks, for everyone from urban homesteaders to wannabes, to serious small farmers.  I’m totally going to do her idea of a simple affordable outdoor canning kitchen this summer.  Brilliant.

I started my Oaklet Shawl, and it is simple and moving along quickly, which is perfect for these days.  I thought about putting in quotes from both books, because they’re both so good, but I’m trying to keep my computer time short today, so that’s all, friends.

Must look for a copy of householders guide to the Universe. I tried canning two years ago, but I’m still not feeling confident with it. Maybe this book will inspire be to try again.

I’m also reading Homesteader’s Guide right now…in the process of mapping the garden, making a preservation game plan, and a crop rotation schedule. And desperately want an outdoor kitchen, too!

Oh you found the book! Terrific. Don’t you LOVE the outdoor kitchen idea? I want one too. :) And isn’t she a great voice…so strong and unapologetic. Love. She’s got another site here: http://www.portlandpreserve.com/index.html which has some good articles, etc.
