Yarn Along – Shalom

Joining Ginny of Small Things today for Yarn Along.

shalom

I’m almost done with my Shalom cardigan – only one more sleeve to go! (And how fitting that this is called Shalom, since peace definitely seems to be a theme in my life these days). I am really excited about this sweater. Honestly, I would have finished one or even two months ago, but I had to rip out my first two tries, as they were too small. But at last, it fits, and this yarn (Beaverslide Fisherman weight) is so beautiful. I’m not sure the photo captures all the little flecks of gold, but they are lovely.
I’m re-reading one of my favorite books, Meditations from the Mat, by Rolf Gates. Truly, I think this is one of the best spiritual books ever, and even if you don’t practice yoga I highly recommend it. I’m also reading Hypnobirthing, which is really interesting and I’m excited about it.
It’s been so long since I did a Yarn Along post, I wanted to also tell you about some other good reads from the past few months:
Ten Habits of Happy Mothers - I really loved this, it was so thoughtfully and lovingly written, and doesn’t make you feel bad about all that you’re not doing, just illuminates a lovely path to follow.
Handmade Beginnings – this has such cute projects, I’m sewing myself the Mariposa dress right now, and hoping I have time to make the sweet hooded jacket for baby.

I just posted on my Shalom a few weeks ago–it’s a wonderful pattern, isn’t it? That yarn is beautiful. I love Handmade Beginnings, too–the quick change pants are great. And I have 10 habits of Happy Mothers from the library on my shelf waiting to be read–you’ve inspired me to get going on it. Blessings!

Lovely! Can you tell me how much of that yarn it took to do just the body? And what size needles you used? I want to just copy you.
