Local Bread Giveaway

dough

It’s giveaway time, folks!

For our first giveaway, we are offering TWO lucky folks two loaves of local bread, one whole meal, and one with sifted flour (using the amazing new mill!)  These will be sourdough loaves, made by Ben at Wheatberry with wheat grown right here in Hadley MA at Alan Zuchowski’s Lazy Acres Farm, as testers for our upcoming local bread shares program.

To enter, just leave a comment on this post.  We’ll close comments next Sunday, October 18th, and draw two names out of a hat.  Be sure to give us your email so we can get in touch with you if you’re one of the winners!  Good luck, and have a great weekend!

Tom really wants to make Italian bread with the local wheat, so he’d love to see how the white bread comes out. (And I can’t imagine not using the rest of the berry. So I guess I could be making a lot of scones this winter!)

Local grain bread in the heart of New England! Wow. It chokes me up to think it’s taken much of a century, but finally it’s happenings.

Blessings on all those bringing the staff of life and more to this fine valley, and to the sacred earth. -Paul

I remember when I first heard whispers, little rumblings of local wheat/grain initiatives and projects in the valley.
Seeing everything realized is so amazing and Wheatberry’s breads go so well with their hearty soups
that I’ve enjoyed so much in the cold of winters past! Congratulations!!

I’m so excited to find a (somewhat) local source for flour and other grains. I’m in East Bridgewater, but I’m willing to make the trip just to check out the bakery. The mill is gorgeous. Can’t wait to try your breads-free or not-and other goodies!

there once was a wee wheatberry
whose life had been ever so merry
    when it was plump
    its heart went thump
transformed by the wee bread fairy

I’m a former newspaper food editor, and when I used to hear people use the word “gourmet,” I thought: They don’t really understand what good food is all about. THIS is what good food is all about.
