make hay while . . . well, you know

Yesterday we had the good fortune to help out our friends Roy and Lauren bale their hay out in Princeton, MA and bring it in before the rains came. Since Ella wasn’t too keen on me actually helping, I got to walk around and around the field and help out. They were using an old John Deere, and an antique hay baler. Here’s Lauren, driving the tractor and baler.

Of course, when you aren’t busy throwing giant hay bales up onto the truck, you get to notice the vetch blooming, and the sun going down.

And when the baler and tractor quit for the day? Well, push em out of the way and keep loading up the hay! Never mind that the dogs have called it quits.
